Los investigadores mantuvieron constante la cantidad total de lluvia, pero cambiaron su distribuci\u00f3n: menos tormentas m\u00e1s intensas frente a lluvias m\u00e1s frecuentes y ligeras.\n\nLos resultados mostraron que las tormentas m\u00e1s intensas y menos frecuentes provocaron una lixiviaci\u00f3n de nitratos mucho mayor en sistemas labrados, independientemente del tipo de fertilizante utilizado.\n\nEsto demuestra que el momento y el movimiento del agua, y no la qu\u00edmica del fertilizante, fueron los factores decisivos.\n\nCuriosamente, los suelos de labranza cero (no-till) se vieron menos afectados, lo que evidencia c\u00f3mo la estructura del suelo puede amortiguar estos impactos.<\/p>\n<p class=\" translation-block\">En conjunto, estos estudios demuestran que la lixiviaci\u00f3n de nitr\u00f3geno no depende solo de lo que se aplica, sino de cu\u00e1ndo llega el agua y de c\u00f3mo el suelo la gestiona.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Hablamos de la lixiviaci\u00f3n al rev\u00e9s<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>La mayor\u00eda de las conversaciones sobre la lixiviaci\u00f3n comienzan despu\u00e9s de que ocurre, cuando el nitr\u00f3geno ya se ha desplazado por debajo de la zona radicular y los datos aparecen en informes de aguas subterr\u00e1neas o gr\u00e1ficos de eficiencia.\n\nPero para cuando estamos midiendo la p\u00e9rdida, la historia real ya ha terminado.<\/p>\n<p>La lixiviaci\u00f3n comienza antes de la lluvia, en ese momento de incertidumbre cuando la humedad del suelo es alta, el fertilizante se ha aplicado recientemente y el pron\u00f3stico se vuelve impredecible.\n\nEs entonces cuando la agronom\u00eda se convierte en gesti\u00f3n del riesgo. Y, a menudo, todo se reduce a falta de visibilidad.\n\nSin saber exactamente qu\u00e9 tan cerca est\u00e1 el suelo de la saturaci\u00f3n o con qu\u00e9 rapidez se mover\u00e1 el agua a trav\u00e9s del perfil, el momento de actuar se convierte en una suposici\u00f3n.\n\nY esa incertidumbre cuesta m\u00e1s rendimiento que cualquier evento puntual de lixiviaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><strong>La lixiviaci\u00f3n de nitr\u00f3geno es un problema de tiempo, no de fertilizante<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Tendemos a culpar a la forma del fertilizante \u2014urea frente a nitrato, con estabilizadores o sin ellos\u2014, pero la qu\u00edmica es predecible. Sin visibilidad sobre c\u00f3mo interact\u00faan el agua y los nutrientes bajo la superficie, incluso una buena agronom\u00eda puede parecer inconsistente.<\/p>\n<p>La brecha est\u00e1 en la falta de informaci\u00f3n. Y hasta que no la cerremos, tanto los agricultores como los distribuidores seguir\u00e1n teniendo que justificar decisiones que los datos podr\u00edan explicar f\u00e1cilmente.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Cerrando la brecha de datos<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p class=\" translation-block\">Medimos el rendimiento, la humedad, la CE y el tipo de suelo, pero no el movimiento de nutrientes en tiempo real.\n\nEso es como intentar gestionar el riego sin consultar nunca el clima.<\/p>\n<p class=\" translation-block\">La lixiviaci\u00f3n no es aleatoria; sigue patrones.
