Transforming Agriculture with Breakthrough Nitrogen Sensing Technology
EnGeniousAg has developed a revolutionary nitrogen sensing technology designed to tackle one of agriculture’s biggest challenges: efficient nitrogen management. This patented technology provides near-instant, in-field nitrogen measurements across plant tissue, water, and soil. With these actionable insights, growers can optimize nitrogen use, improve crop performance, and reduce environmental impact. Now part of the CropX portfolio, this innovative solution sets a new standard for sustainable and profitable farming.
Measure nitrogen levels directly in the field to maximize fertilizer efficiency and minimize waste.
Enhance profitability while protecting the environment by reducing nitrogen runoff and greenhouse gas emissions.
CropX has acquired EnGeniousAg, makers of innovative nitrogen sensors, to transform nitrogen management in agriculture. These groundbreaking sensors deliver real-time, in-ground nitrogen data, enabling farmers to make informed fertilization decisions. By integrating this first-of-its-kind technology into the AI-driven CropX agronomic platform, growers can optimize fertilizer use, reduce costs, and address a $1 trillion global pollution crisis caused by fertilizer inefficiency. The sensors provide 24/7 nitrogen monitoring, enhancing profitability and sustainability while mitigating greenhouse gas emissions and protecting ecosystems from runoff and leaching.
EnGeniousAg, co-founded by four Iowa State University professors and part of the university’s I-Corps Site program, developed these sensors to unlock precise insights into nitrogen dynamics. This innovation complements CropX’s existing soil monitoring capabilities, offering farmers a comprehensive solution to tackle the challenges of nitrogen waste and environmental damage.
This acquisition, CropX’s sixth since 2019, reinforces its position as a leader in agronomic management. With operations in over 70 countries, CropX continues to deliver cutting-edge, user-friendly tools that boost yields, reduce costs, and promote sustainable farming worldwide.
EnGeniousAg has assembled an IP portfolio consisting of both exclusive licenses to technologies invented by our founders prior to the date we commenced operations and new intellectual property we have developed internally. A number of these patents have already been issued or the provisional patents published:
Patent No.: US 10,921,303 B1: Dong, L., et al. Miniature Sensors with Probe Insertable into and for Obtaining Measurements from Plants and a Variety of Other Mediums.
Patent No.: US 11,378,541 B1: Dong, L., et al. Self-Contained, Automated, Long-term Sensor System for Monitoring of Soil and Water Nutrients in Fields.
Provisional patent # 63/287,027: Dong, L., et al. Double Junction Reference Electrode.
